EPiServer Webchat

Press Release

Stockholm, Sweden                        05 September 2005

EPiServer integrates Skype with web site presence and chat!

ElektroPost today released the new visitor interaction system EPiServer Webchat. Sold as an add-on module to the award winning web content management system EPiServer, Webchat provides the ability to interact with web site visitors using Skype!

Presence dependant chat links on the EPiServer web pages brings up web chats that are transformed into Skype text messages. This allows sales teams to use Skype as the client program, having multiple simultaneous chats.  EPiServer will act as a proxy, passing messages between the web chat and the Skype user, logging all traffic.

“Skype is a very good infrastructure to use as a backbone for presence and messaging, since Skype has a public API allowing software vendors like ourselves to enhance our systems with messaging without the need to install additional software on the clients” says Mikael Runhem, Founder of ElektroPost.

“In the past, our customers had to use specialized web chat systems which did not fit smaller organizations with adhoc staff. Now we can display different buttons on the web pages, depending on the presence of for example a sales team: When someone has the Online status in Skype the button on the web page will display Chat with a sales representative. If no one is online the button can change to Email a sales representative. Also workload distribution through groups is supported, together with a “tripwire” functions that notifies a certain Skype user that the page is visited. The Skype user can then initiate a web chat with the visitor, answering sales questions etc. The visitor interaction can also be enhanced with the voice capabilities, provided the visitor is one of the 40 million users that have Skype installed!”
