Today, EPiServer customers generally has a problem with spam emails. The email addresses are normally found by using special web crawlers (similar to the Google and Altavista web spiders) that extracts the email addresses that is found on normal web pages.
Typically a new email address that is published on a web page starts getting spam within a matter of days....
To protect the email address of our new managing director, Mr. Lars-Olof Norell, we have therefore developed an "Email Obfuscator" plug-in to EPiFields. It hides the email address from the spiders but presents it as an ordinary email link for the web browsers.
The email address is presented in plain text that can be formatted as usual.
EP Research does not plan to make this a part of EPiServer, it has been developed for internal use.
